 Certain
traditional grape varieties, such as Cinsault and Carignan (especially
the older vines) are capable of producing much better wines in the Faugeres
region than on other types of soil....
 Under
good production conditions (low yield, good crop health, etc.), particularly
on high schistous slopes where the soil is thin and dry, these often-
denigrated grape varieties can produce exceptional and astonishing wines.
